New Marty McFly for West End’s Back To The Future

Recent Mountview Academy graduate Ben Joyce will step into the role of Marty McFly in crowd-pleasing Back To The Future The Musical as the award-winning production heads into its second successful year at the Adelphi Theatre.

Joyce who made his professional debut last year as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys, is one of a number of new cast members due to join the award-winning production from 17 August 2022. The new Marty McFly will star alongside original cast member Tony Award-winning Broadway actor Roger Bart who will continue as Dr Emmett Brown.

Cast newcomers from 17 August will also include Amber Davies (9 to 5 The Musical, Savoy Theatre, Bring It On: The Musical, UK tour) as Lorraine Baines McFly, Oliver Nicholas (All Kinds of Limbo, Sundowning, National Theatre) as George McFly, Jordan Benjamin (Hairspray, London Coliseum) as Goldie Wilson, Harry Jobson (2022 graduate of the Urdang Academy) as Biff Tannen, Sophie Naglik (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, UK and Ireland tour) as Jennifer Parker, and Gary Trainor (School of Rock, West End and US tour, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, West End) as Strickland. Will Haswell will continue as alternate Marty McFly and Dave McFly, and Emma Lloyd will continue as Linda McFly.

New ensemble members will be Simeon Beckett, Sia Dauda, Tyler Davis, Glen Facey, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Adam Margilewski, Bryan Mottram, Anna Murray, Jon Reynolds, Georgia Tapp and Charley Warburton, joining Amy Barker, Cameron McAllister, Alessia McDermott, Laura Mullowney, Melissa Rose, Justin Thomas and Tavio Wright.

Currently booking up to 12 February 2023, the critically acclaimed Olivier, WhatsOnStage and Broadway World Award-winning Best New Musical had its opening night in London on 13 September 2021.

Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, the brainchild of producer Colin Ingram (Ghost – The Musical) and the creators of the much-loved time-travelling film series, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, Back To The Future The Musical is due to open on Broadway in 2023 with further plans to rollout internationally.

Featuring a book by Gale and new music and lyrics by the film’s Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard the stage musical also includes songs from the film including Huey Lewis and the News’ Oscar-nominated ‘The Power of Love’.

Tony Award-winning director John Rando (Urinetown, On The Town) heads a creative team that includes the multi Tony and Olivier Award-winning design team of Tim Hatley (set and costume design), Hugh Vansone (lighting), Gareth Owen (sound) and Finn Ross (video). Choreography is by Chris Bailey, with illusions by Chris Fisher, musical supervision and vocal arrangements by Nick Finlow, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook and dance arrangements by David Chase. Casting is by David Grindrod Associates.

The musical premiered in Manchester in early 2020 at the start of what was to have been a limited 12-week season before heading for London. A box office record breaker at the Adelphi, the Manchester and London productions have been seen by half a million people to date.
