The Trotter family is heading back into the West End in the hit show Only Fools and Horses The Musical this autumn with co-creator Paul Whitehouse reprising his performance as Grandad.
After nearly 18 months self-isolation in Nelson Mandela House, Peckham’s finest will be living it up in their London home, the Theatre Royal, Haymarket from 1 October. The reopening of the hit show will be part of the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the enduringly popular TV sitcom.
Commenting on the return of the musical theatre adventures of Del Boy and Rodney, Whitehouse said: “I’m over the moon because, finally, the West End is coming back to life and Only Fools and Horses The Musical will return to the Theatre Royal Haymarket this October.
“The last year or so has been very difficult for a lot of people, so I know I speak for the whole cast when I say that we genuinely cannot wait to get back on stage in front of a live audience – we’ve missed it so much. Roll on 1st October, we can’t wait to see you. Mange tout!”
Whitehouse will return as Grandad alongside Tom Bennett (E4’s Phoneshop, Elton John bio-pic Rocketman) as Del Boy and Ryan Hutton who made his professional West End stage debut as Rodney in the production.
Nearly eight years after the death of John Sullivan, the much-loved writer of the enduringly popular TV series, Sullivan’s dream of bringing the Trotters to the stage in a major British musical in the West End came true in February 2019.
With a script and original score written by John Sullivan’s son, Jim and comedian Whitehouse, and featuring material from the classic TV series along with musical contributions from Chas ‘n’ Dave, the feel-good, family-friendly production is directed by Caroline Jay Ranger.
Booking is now open for performances from 1 October 2021 until 26 February 2022.
