West End and Broadway star Ramin Karimloo will head the cast of a one-night-only performance of Camelot In Concert at the London Palladium early next year.
Karimloo (Love Never Dies, Les Misérables) will play King Arthur with Lucy St. Louis (The Phantom of the Opera, Motown The Musical) as his Queen Guenevere and Bradley Jaden (Wicked, Les Misérables) who will complete the central love triangle as the knight, Lancelot.
Commenting on the concert, Olivier and Tony Award-nominee Karimloo said: “This is going to be a very exciting production and the fact it is for one exclusive night only makes it even more special.
“To perform as the majestic King Arthur and be joined by Lucy St. Louis as Guenevere and Bradley Jaden as Lancelot will make this an absolutely stunning show and I can’t wait.”
Presented by live music and event promoters Cuffe and Taylor in association with theatre producers Lambert Jackson, the special concert performance of Lerner and Loewe’s haunting story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table will play the Palladium on 6 February 2022.
Announcing the production, Lambert Jackson’s creative director Eliza Jackson said: “Camelot In Concert is an incredibly exciting production for us and one that we know will be very special.
“With Ramin, Bradley and Lucy leading the cast as the legendary love triangle, we have the most incredible display of talent for this show, and we plan to announce more cast members soon.
“Lerner and Loewe created the most soaring music with wonderfully descriptive lyrics and to be given the opportunity to bring this story to life at the magnificent London Palladium is something we very much look forward to doing.”
Ben Hatton, director of theatre touring for Cuffe and Taylor, added: “We are delighted to be working with Lambert Jackson and such a strong cast. This is an exclusive one-night-only production and that means one thing – hurry to get your tickets as this is a not to be missed show.”
Based on T H White’s novel The Once And Future King, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s Camelot debuted on Broadway in 1961 with Richard Burton giving a Tony Award-winning performance as King Arthur alongside Julie Andrews as his Guenevere, Roddy McDowell as Mordred and Robert Goulet (making his Broadway debut as Lancelot)
Camelot first appeared in the West End in 1964 in a production at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane that starred Laurence Harvey as King Arthur, Elizabeth Larner as Guenevere and Barry Kent as Lancelot. The triple Oscar-winning film version in 1967 starred Richard Harris as Arthur, Vanessa Redgrave as Guenevere, David Hemmings as Mordred and Franco Nero as Lancelot.
