The West End production of hit Broadway musical Be More Chill will welcome two new cast members for the final five weeks in its limited 10-week run at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
& Juliet’s Grace Mouat (Six will step into the role of Chloe Valentine with Mountview graduate Nathania Ong making her professional debut as Jenna Rolan. They will be joining Scott Folan (Jeremy Heere), Blake Patrick Anderson (Michael Mell), Miracle Chance (Christine Canigula), Stewart Clarke (The Squip), Eloise Davies (Brooke Lohst), Christopher Fry (Mr Heere, Mr Reyes), James Hameed (Rich Goranski), Gabriel Hinchliffe (Ensemble), Eve Norris (Ensemble) Miles Paloma (Jake Dillinger) and Brandon Lee Sears (Ensemble).
Presented by Bill Kenwright with Jerry Goehring, Lisa Dozier King and Paul Taylor-Mills, the musical began its first West End run on 30 June. The musical was previously seen in London at The Other Palace in 2020 where the show had been set to become the venue’s longest-running musical before the pandemic hit.
Based on the novel of the same name by Ned Vizzini, with original music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz. Be More Chill was commissioned by and premiered at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey in 2015.
The show captured the imagination of the online community following Ghostlight Records’ release of the 2015 original cast recording. With millions of people streaming the album, the show soon had a devoted and growing fan base which led to the show’s Off-Broadway debut in 2018 ahead of this year’s Broadway premiere run. When the ‘2019 Broadway Cast Recording’ was released, it debuted at No. 2 on the Cast Albums Chart.
Director Stephen Brackett heads a creative team that includes choreographer Chase Brock, set designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Bobby Frederick Tilley, lighting designer Tyler Micoleau, sound designer Ryan Rumery and projection designer Alex Basco Koch. Musical supervision and orchestrations are by Charlie Rosen, with music vocal arrangements by Emily Marshall and UK casting by Will Burton.
