Award-winning actor Robert Creighton will bring his acclaimed portrayal of movie star James Cagney to London for three invitation-only workshop performances on 9 and 10 December 2021.
Previously known as Cagney The Musical, Top of the World features music and lyrics by Creighton and Christopher McGovern and a book by Peter Colley. Creighton stars as the tap-dancing tough guy in the production which is choreographed by Tony Award-nominee Joshua Bergasse.
The London workshops follow a well-received New York run of over 500 performances and sold-out runs in in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. The musical has been reimagined and developed with an expanded book and new musical numbers aimed at developing the show for the West End and Broadway.
Produced by Riki Kane Larimer and Kate Edelman Johnson, the London workshops follow the addition of Tony Award winning director John Rando (Urinetown, Back To The Future) to the production’s creative team.
Commenting on the arrival of Rando, Larimer said: “John Rando, our new director, has made our wonderful show even better. There have been major structural changes to the book that have deepened the legendary story causing it to be more relevant and impactful to contemporary audiences. We are on Top of the World to share this workshop production with the London theatre community.”
