British actress Sally Ann Triplett will step in to play Mrs Lovett alongside Thom Sesma’s Demon Barber in the hit immersive Off-Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd.
The new partners in grisly crime will take over from Hugh Panaro and Carolee Carmello in the acclaimed version of the hit show at the Barrow Street Theatre in New York at the end of February.
Sesma, whose Broadway credits include productions of Man of La Mancha and La Cage Aux Folles and West End and Broadway regular Triplett (Mamma Mia!, The Last Ship) will join the Tooting Arts Club production from 27 February.
With tickets now on sale for dates until 27 May, the extended production of Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s multi award-winning musical thriller which opened in February last year is directed by Bill Buckhurst.
Also joining the cast from 27 February will be Billy Harrigan Tighe (Pippin), Delaney Westfall (Kinky Boots) and Zachary Noah Piser (Wicked).
