On a winning streak – Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
The Oscar and Tony-winning Broadway composing team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are continuing their winning streak into the new year by collecting their second consecutive Golden Globe for Best Original Song.
After taking home last year’s Golden Globe for their work on La La Land’s ‘City of Stars’, the team behind the multi-award winning Dear Evan Hansen have come out on top again with ‘This Is Me’ from the Barnum film The Greatest Showman.
With ‘City of Stars’ also going on to collect the Academy Award for original song, the duo’s latest Golden Globe success suggests they may be celebrating again soon at the 2018 Oscars.
For the musical theatre writing team of Pasek and Paul, their second Golden Globe is the latest glittering moment in a relatively fledgling career that has already seen critical and commercial success on the big and small screen as well as in the theatre.
Widely seen as one of the high points in The Greatest Showman (directed by Michael Gracey), the powerful ‘This Is Me’ is sung by Hawaiian stage actress Keala Settle who plays the bearded lady Lettie Lutz alongside Hugh Jackman’s P.T. Barnum.
