West End and Broadway stars Samantha Barks and Ramin Karimloo will star in a feature film version of Laurence Mark Wythe’s musical Tomorrow Morning.
Originally planned as a stage production, the revival of the musical which premiered in London in 2006 will mark the film directing debut of stage director and choreographer Nick Winston. Winston whose credits include the 30th anniversary production of Fame, the 2017 UK tour of The Wedding Singer, the 2020 Tokyo production of Chess (which starred Barks and Karimloo) also directed the 2006 production of Tomorrow Morning at the New End Theatre.
The story of a couple at two points in their relationship – the moment when they are about to marry and, a decade later, when they are about to divorce – Wythe has adapted and expanded his original work for the film, adding extra characters and new songs. Unlike the stage show which cast four actors to play the same couple a decade apart, the film will feature just two with Barks (Pretty Woman, Broadway, soon-to-be-seen in the West End in Frozen) and Karimloo (The Phantom of the Opera, West End, Anastasia, Broadway) taking on the characters at both stages in their relationship.
They will be joined by Omid Djalili, Harriet Thorpe and Fleur East for the production which is due to begin filming at locations in Wapping, East London in May and June.
