Six touring Queens announced

The full cast has been confirmed for the eagerly anticipated 2019/2020 UK tour of hit new British musical Six this autumn.

Lauren Drew (Catherine of Aragon), Maddison Bulleyment (Anne Boleyn), Lauren Byrne (Jane Seymour), Shekinah McFarlane (Anne of Cleves), Jodie Steele (Katherine Howard) and Athena Collins (Catherine Parr), with alternates Jennifer Caldwell, Cassandra Lee and Harriet Watson, will take to the road with the show’s all-female ban, The Ladies in Waiting, for a Royal tour beginning in October 2019.

With the show’s current second season at Covent Garden’s Arts Theatre now extended for the second time until 5 July 2020 and plans for next year’s Broadway transfer run announced, the rock-flavoured show in which the wives of Henry VIII take centre stage is due to visit over 33 venues nationwide.

Opening at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford on 24 October, the tour will also include a Christmas Season at The Lowry Quays Theatre from 3 December 2019 until 5 January 2020.

Written by university friends Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the award-winning musical puts the spotlight on the Tudor King’s wives as they form a 21st century girl band.

Commenting on the tour earlier this year, Marlow and Moss said: “We are SOOOO excited and thrilled and grateful that we get to share the story of these badass Queens – and the UNREAL talents of these women – with so many more people all over the UK! We’ll see you there!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!”

Following the Guildford run, the tour will visit Malvern, Glasgow, Kingston upon Thames, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Salford, Chichester, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Edinburgh, Aylesbury, Bath, Nottingham, Bromley, Southend, Sheffield, Hull, Canterbury, Coventry, Leicester, Leeds, Newcastle, Southampton, Norwich and Birmingham. Further dates for 2020 are to be announced.

Presented by Kenny Wax and Global Musicals, the show which features tracks including ‘Ex Wives’, ‘Haus of Holbein’ and ‘Don’t Lose Ur Head  is directed by co-creator Moss and Jamie Armitage.

The creative team also includes choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and musical supervisor Joe Beighton, with set design by Emma Bailey, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Tim Deiling, sound design by Paul Gatehouse and orchestrations by Tom Curran.

The show debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017 in a production by the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society. The show returned to Edinburgh a year later following its first well-received four-date London run in January 2018. The Edinburgh dates formed part of the show’s first touring production which also visited Kingston’s Rose Theatre, Southampton’s Nuffield Theatre. The Lowry, Salford and Glasgow SEC.

Six is the first musical from Marlow and Moss, two thirds of the award-winning theatre company Hot Gay Time Machine whose satirical show Hot Gay Time Machine was also a hit at the Fringe before playing a sold-out run at The Other Palace in 2018.
