Some Like It Hot leads Tony Award nominations with & Juliet, New York, New York and Shucked close behind

The 76th Annual Tony Award nominations were announced today by star of Funny Girl Lea Michele and MJ Tony Award winner Myles Frost.

Leading the way on the musical theatre front was Some Like It Hot with 13 nominations, closely followed by & Juliet, New York, New York and Shucked, all with nine nominations. Kimberly Akimbo and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street were recognised in eight categories and there were six nods each for Into the Woods and Parade. Lerner & Loewe’s Camelot also received five nominations.

The New Musicals eligible for Tony Award nominations were Almost Famous, Bad Cinderella, A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical, & Juliet, Kimberly Akimbo, KPOP, New York, New York, Shucked and Some Like It Hot; and for Musical Revivals: 1776, Bob Fosse’s Dancin’, Camelot, Into the Woods, Parade and Sweeney Todd.

The Tony Awards will be held at United Palace in New York City’s Washington Heights on 11 June 2023 and will be hosted by Tony nominee and Oscar winner Ariana DeBose for the second year in a row.
