The UK premiere recording of new murder mystery musical A Killer Party returns to Stream.Theatre this week.
Adapted for UK audiences, the show which was a lockdown hit in the US, is available as a nine-episode series for home viewing on stream.theatre until 28 November.
The cast includes Jason Manford (Curtains, The Producers), Ben Forster (Jesus Christ Superstar, Elf The Musical), Oscar Conlon-Morrey (Only Fools and Horses, Nativity The Musical), Debbie Kurup (The Prince of Egypt, Sweet Charity), Cedric Neal (Motown The Musical, Back To The Future), Amara Okereke (Les Misérables, The Boyfriend), Lucas Rush (The Merry Wives of Windsor, Les Misérables), Emma Salvo (Come From Away, The Toxic Avenger), Ashley Samuels (Motown The Musical, The Book of Mormon), Harriet Thorpe (Wicked, Les Misérables) and Rachel Tucker (Come From Away, Songs From a New World).
The UK version of the show which boasts a book by Emmy Award-winner Rachel Axler and Kait Kerrigan, music by Grammy Award-winner Jason Howland and lyrics by Nathan Tysen is directed by Benji Sperring.
Produced by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment, Tanisha Spring for Blue Mahoe Productions and Ilia Szpiezak, the UK version of the show which was originally developed in response to the Covid theatre closures in the US, was filmed entirely in each artist’s home. Spring has been nominated for a Best Producer Award in this year’s Black British Theatre Awards for her work on the show.
A Killer Party debuted on American digital platform Vimeo in August 2020 with a home-based cast that included Broadway stars Miguel Cervantes (Hamilton), Andrew Shearer Gehling (Waitress), Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) and Laura Osnes (Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella).
