Six more new musicals to feature in third series of In The Wings

Airing weekly on the In The Wings YouTube Channel from 7.30pm on Friday (22 October), the third series will feature six shows: Améliore, Deptford Wives, Fiver, Reality Bites: The Interactive Musical, The Red Side of the Moon and Tarrytown.

Free to watch on-demand indefinitely, the mixture of live performance and interviews boasts musical direction by Henry Brennan, visual design by Justin Williams and casting by Kelly Everitt.

As well as showcasing the new work alongside performances of songs from much-loved musicals, the new series will look to the future of theatre after the Covid closedown.

Every season three episode will include Michael Auger’s interviews with the creatives for the featured musical along with performances of songs from the new show by a West End cast of Emma Lindars (Groundhog Day, Made in Dagenham), Nikita Johal (Broken Wings, What The Ladybird Heard) and Cleve September (Hamilton, Jesus Christ Superstar).

Episodes will also feature a number of performances by 2021 musical theatre graduates: Naomi Alade (London College of Music), Anna Amelia (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), Olivia Brookes (ArtsEd), Owen Clayton (ArtsEd), Georgia Dixon (Italia Conti) and Sydnie Hocknell (ArtsED).

The band for the third series is made up of musical director Brennan on keys, Leon Stenning on guitars, Mark Fincham on bass guitar and Nick Anderson on drums.

Adam Wachter will discuss his award-winning Tarrytown in the first episode of the new series, with Anthony Kosky and Tania Azevedo joining Auger to discuss Deptford Wives in the second episode which will be made available from 29 October.

Alex James Ellison will step into the spotlight to discuss his musical FIVER in the third episode which will be released on 5 November, with Kathryn Tindall and Zoe Woodruff showcasing The Red Side Of The Moon in the fourth episode (available from 12 November).

Reality Bites: The Interactive Musical by Dave Payne and Aron Sood will be the featured work in the fifth episode (available from 19 November) with the final episode focussing on Améliore by Melissa Boyce-Hurd and Matteo Ressa (available from 26 November).

By the end of the third series, In The Wings will have showcased 16 new British musicals. Originally launched during the first lockdown as a showcase for shows postponed due to the Covid closedown, the first two series attracted over 100,000 views on YouTube with an average of 11,000 viewers tuning in weekly to watch each episode.

The first series focused on No Limits: A Song Cycle, Legends of Arahma, Gretel!: The Musical and Dorian: A Rock Musical. The second series showcased The Wicker Husband, You and I, Millennials, Terror at the Sweatshop, Plan Bea and Rise.
