The annual glitter and glamour-fest that is West End Eurovision will celebrate its tenth birthday at London’s Adelphi Theatre on Sunday 19 April 2020.

Produced by TheatreMAD, the event which involves teams from the West End’s biggest shows donning sparkles and belting out Eurovision hits (and misses) raises funds for Make A Difference Trust, the UK-based charity involved in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Ahead of the 65th annual Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam in the Netherlands on 16 May teams from some of the West End’s biggest shows will once again battle it out to win three trophies (The Champions, Best Costume, Best Intro Film) and the special Judges Award for Direction and Choreography.

At last year’s West End Eurovision, the team from the West End’s longest-running musical The Phantom of the Opera blew away all the opposition to become the first show in the nine-year history of the sequin-spangled event to take home the top prize in consecutive years.

Commenting on the event, Melanie Tranter, chair of the Make A Difference Trust said: “West End Eurovision only happens because of the incredible generosity of the theatre community who give their time and talent to make this incredible show possible. We have just released the funds to build a school for HIV orphans in Kenya. Who would have thought that sequins, spandex and the wonderful theatre community could change lives so profoundly.”

West End Eurovision has raised £400,000 to date and featured nearly 1,000 performers representing 82 shows. Over 120 technical, creative and support volunteers give their time each year and all celebrities, technical teams, musicians, creatives, artists have given their time and services without taking any payment.
