Morticia and Gomez will be taking their creepy and kooky brood on the road again in 2020 in a new touring production of The Addams Family musical.
Presented by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment and Music & Lyrics Limited, the 2020 UK and Ireland tour will be directed by Matthew White (The Producers, Mr Stink UK tours), the director of the 2017 UK and Irish premiere of the show.
Featuring a book by the creators of the multi-award-winning Jersey Boys, Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (Big Fish), the second tour will open at the Newcastle Theatre Royal on 30 July 2020.
With casting to be announced at a later date, the tour will follow its opening run in Newcastle by visiting Liverpool, Dublin, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Northampton, London, Nottingham, Woking, Bromley, Salford and Oxford. Further tour dates will be announced soon.
Based on the much-loved characters created by Charles Addams, the original Broadway production opened on Broadway in 2010. Starring Nathan Lane as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia, the multi-million-dollar production won four Broadway.com audience awards. The Broadway production closed at the end of 2011 and a number of international and touring productions of the show followed including a US tour also in 2011 and a European premiere in Sweden in 2012.
The first UK and Ireland tour which launched in 2017 starred Samantha Womack and Cameron Blakeley as Morticia and Gomez with Les Dennis as Uncle Fester and Carrie Hope-Fletcher as Wednesday Addams.
