Chris Bush, the writer best known for the 2007 TONY! The Blair Musical, has turned her attention to TV personality and controversial broadcaster/columnist Katie Hopkins with a new musical to launch at Theatr Clwyd next spring.
With words by Bush and music by Matt Winkworth, The Assassination of Katie Hopkins uses the fictional off-stage murder of the outspoken celebrity who first found fame on TV’s The Apprentice to offer an exploration of free speech and public outrage in the digital world.
Directed by James Grieve with design by Lucy Osborne and musical supervision by David White, the show will play the Emlyn Williams Theatre from 20 April until 12 May 2018 with a press night on 26 April.
Also included in Theatr Clwyd’s spring 2018 season are a re-imagined The Great Gatsby directed by Alexander Wright and Laura Wade’s Theatre Clwyd debut with new comedy Home, I’m Darling in the first co-production with the National Theatre starring Katherine Parkinson.
