Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story to open Jermyn Street Theatre’s The Outsiders Season

The eagerly-awaited central London transfer of critically-acclaimed musical thriller Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story will be the opening production in the Jermyn Street Theatre’s spring 2022 season.

Previously seen at the Hope Theatre in Islington, director Matthew Parker’s 2019 award-winning production of Stephen Dolginoff’s work will be the first production in The Outsiders Season which will run from mid-January until early July next year.

Written and composed by Dolginoff, the musical based on the notorious ‘thrill killers’ Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold whose murderous partnership famously inspired Patrick Hamilton’s 1929 play Rope and Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1948 film, will play the Jermyn Street Theatre from 13 January until 5 February 2022.

The season will also include the European premiere of the climate change protest-themed Rain and Zoe Save The World. Featuring original music by composer Bobby Cronin, playwright Crystal Skillman’s award-winning work will run from 10 February until 12 March 2022. A co-production with Drew & Dane Productions, Rain and Zoe Save The World is directed by Hersh Ellis.

The season will also include the European premiere of The Marriage of Alice B. Tokias by Gertrude Stein, written and directed by Edward Einhorn, and the world premiere of Howard Brenton’s Cancelling Socrates directed by the venue’s artistic director Tom Littler.

During The Outsiders Season Jermyn Street Theatre will also be presenting a series of Sunday events under the title of One Night Only! The season will also include the launch of JST Conversations – a wide-ranging series debates, discussions, talkbacks and interviews.

Confirming details of the spring 2022 programme, Littler said: “We’re delighted to announce The Outsiders Season – a blend of exciting drama, featuring musicals, European and world premieres, including some long-delayed programming originally scheduled for spring 2020. I’m also excited to be launching our JST Conversations series, curated by our carne deputy director, Ebenezer Bamgboye. Times are still perilous, but we are grateful for the support of all our audiences and freelancers as we forge ahead into a dynamic 2022.”
