Leading theatrical charity Acting For Others has confirmed the judges and the hit shows lined-up to take part in this year’s West End Flea Market later this month.
West End Flea Market regular Christopher Biggins will be joined by Michael Ball and Bridgerton’s Golda Rosheuvel to pass judgement on the stalls created by teams from shows including: Bonnie & Clyde, Book of Mormon, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton, Jersey Boys, Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Mamma Mia!, Moulin Rouge, Only Fools and Horses the Musical, Pretty Woman, Six, The Play That Goes Wrong, The Phantom of the Opera, To Kill A Mockingbird and Zorro.
Performers from a number of West End shows including Alice Fearn (Come From Away), Miriam Teak-Lee (& Juliet), Jordan Luke Gage (Bonnie & Clyde), and the cast of Six will be on hand to sign autographs. There will also be merchandise available to purchase from West End shows including & Juliet, Back to the Future, Cabaret, Frozen, Get Up, Stand Up, Heathers, My Fair Lady, The Drifters Girl and The Lion King. Visitors will be able to gain access into the autograph area by purchasing a limited edition The Show Must Go On poster for £5 or by donating £5.
The popular event which raised an impressive £26,000 when it debuted in 2019 will be back at The Actors’ Church, St Paul’s in Covent Garden on 21 May 2022.
Theatre fans will once again be invited to browse a variety of uniquely designed stalls created and hosted by teams from some of the West End’s biggest shows.
Each stall will be packed with showbusiness memorabilia including signed posters and photographs, themed merchandise and limited-edition collectables.
The shows hosting a stall will compete to win the title of Best Dressed Stall decided by a star studded judging panel and the event will also include a theatrical tombola, a raffle and the return of Biggins Bargains – the Bargain Hunt-inspired activity in which two celebrity teams battle it out to sell their theatrical finds for the highest priced at auction. Flea Market favourite Physic Su Pollard will also be on hand to offer a unique fortune-telling experience to fans.
In 2019 thousands of theatre fans turned out to join in the fun as teams from The Book of Mormon, Hamilton, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia! The Mousetrap, Only Fools and Horses, The Phantom of the Opera, The Play That Goes Wrong, and The Royal Opera House hosted stalls celebrating their shows.
Judges Christopher Biggins, Celia Imrie and Wayne Sleep awarded Only Fools and Horses the inaugural prize for Best Dressed Stall for a crowd-pleasing collection of Pina Colada cupcakes, a beer bottle hoopla, autographed treats and Trigger’s Kissing Booth.
Following on from the fundraising success of the annual West End Bake Off, West End Flea Market was created as another star-studded fundraiser for Acting For Others, the umbrella organisation that represents 14 UK theatrical charities and offers emotional and financial support to members of the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times.
