West End LIVE 2020 postponed

Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre have taken the decision to postpone this summer’s West End LIVE event in line with recent Government advice as the country battles the Covid-19.

In a statement announcing the postponement of this year’s event which was due to take place in London’s iconic Trafalgar Square on the 20 and 21 June 2020, the organisations promised ‘our wonderful West End LIVE audience’ that ‘at some point the show will go on’.

Referring to the ‘clear’ health advice they stated it was ‘better to act now and ensure our loyal fan base – some of whom travel from far and wide – can plan accordingly.

The largest event of its type in the world, the crowd-pleasing festival annually turns one of the capital’s famous landmarks into a showcase for the best the West End has to offer. Alongside the performances the event offers fun photo opportunities, meet-and-greets, merchandise stalls, refreshments and sing-alongs.

Thanking theatre-lovers for their ongoing support, the statement promised that ‘when the coronavirus pandemic lifts and London revives, West End LIVE will have an even more important role to play as a curtain raiser to the best of our fantastic West End. We look forward to being back bigger and better than ever before and as soon as we have dates to announce, you will be the first to know.’
