Performers from some of the West End’s biggest shows will join forces with London firefighters in a special show later this month to raise funds for the families who were directly affected by the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire.
Organised by Kieran Brown (Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera) and Sabrina Aloueche (Chess, We Will Rock You), the star-studded event will feature more than 50 performers from hit shows including Bat Out of Hell, Billy Elliot, Hamilton, Les Misérables, Matilda, The Phantom of the Opera, Strictly Ballroom and Wicked.
The Night Of 100 Heroes at the Actors Church in Covent Garden on 15 April has been inspired by the firefighters of the North Kensington Red Watch. The first responders to the blaze are preparing to run the Virgin London Marathon on 22 April to raise money for Kids On The Green, an arts-based charity set up to help the children and the families most affected by the fire.
Stars including Gina Beck, Oliver Savile, Brenda Edwards, Jaymi Hensley, The Barricade Boys, and the West End Gospel Choir are lined up to perform a selection of musical theatre favourites. There will also be an online auction which will form part of the Facebook/Twitter Live backstage broadcast of the event, a raffle and a tombola.
Commenting on the charity show firefighter Tom Abell said: “All of us firefighters at North Kensington are really excited about the show. I’m a big fan of the theatre and often find myself singing show tunes from the likes of Book of Mormon around the station, much to the bemusement of my colleagues!
“It’s fantastic that so many stars of the West End are giving up their time to help the kids of Grenfell. We really are lucky to have these wonderful people in our corner. With such a stellar line up, Night of 100 Heroes is truly going to be a night to remember.”
