Musical theatre favourites will take to the stage at London’s Leicester Square Theatre in March 2019 for a charity gala performance of award-winning composer and lyricist Alexander S. Bermange’s musical Thirteen Days.
Directed by Dominic Shaw, and staged in aid of the Make A Difference Trust, the creative for the special performance on Sunday 17 March will also feature musical consultant Mike Dixon, with original orchestrations by Paul Bateman and new orchestrations by Jerome van den Berghe. Details of the West End star cast will be announced at a later date.
Set during the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, Thirteen Days focuses on the lives of three lovers, three leaders and three nations, in the shadow of nuclear war. Fusing Western, Eastern and Latin musical style, the show has previously been performed in London and Sheffield.
A regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service, Bermange’s writing credits include musicals The Route To Happiness, and the multi-award winning Shadowless. The writer has also topped the iTunes comedy album chart with ‘Whit & Whimsy’, a collection of his songs recorded by a star-studded line-up of stage and screen favourites.
Bermange’s most recent work, the musical revue I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical, played two critically-acclaimed and audience-pleasing runs at London entertainment hub, Live At Zédel in 2018.
