Wilf Goes Wild team creates free educational content for schoolkids

The creators of child-friendly animated musical Wilf Goes Wild are releasing a series of free educational and interactive resources to help youngsters while schools are closed.

Written by Sarah Middleton (SHEWOLVES, Pinocchio, Nottingham Playhouse) and Josh Sneesby (Grammy nominated for Amélie The Musical) and directed by Matt Powell (on hope: a digital song cycle), the 15-minute Wilf Goes Wild animation follows the adventures of sibling explorers Wilf and Willow.

Wilf Goes Wild: The Mystery of the Missing Marvin stars Andrew Langtree (Groundhog Day) as Mr Plummy, Shannon Rewcroft as Willow, and, in his professional debut, Guildford School of Acting graduate Nathan Rigg as Wilf.

In support of home learners the team behind the hit pilot episode have released a number of extra activities, lesson plans and guidance to accompany the well-received pilot episode.

The team is also inviting children to share their drawings and postcards and record messages to Wilf and Willow which could be used to inspire future adventures.

From 15 January youngsters have been able to take part in an online weekly challenge #GoesWildFridays via the Wilf Goes Wild Facebook page.

Commenting on the release of extra Wilf material, director Powell said: “As we find ourselves in a lockdown yet again, we wanted to find a way to help teachers, parents and guardians at this time.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response to Wilf Goes Wild over the past few weeks and are excited to be enhancing the experience with an array of creative & learning activities to do at home, teaching children they don’t have to leave the house to have an adventure!”

The animated musical and a host of activities and packs can be accessed for free at www.wilfgoeswild.com. A BSL version is also available. Tailor-made packages for schools including interactive Q+As are also available.
