Linzi Hateley will return to the role of Donna Sheridan for the third time in the multi-award winning Mamma Mia! at London’s Novello Theatre from 13 June.
Hateley, who played Donna in the capital from 2007-2009 and in 2010, has also appeared in the national tour of Barnum and at the Queen’s Theatre in Les Misérables.
Also joining the cast of the London show which celebrated its 17th birthday earlier this month are: Sanne Den Besten (Les Misérables), Richard Carson (Miss Saigon), Dugald Bruce-Lockhart (The Three Lions), Jemma Revell, Amy Webb, Filippo Coffano and Jake Small. Sorelle Marsh will play the role of Donna for some performances.
Current cast members Mazz Murray, Jo Napthine, Richard Trinder and Alasdair Harvey will also be joined by new ensemble members: Felipe Bejarano, Tabitha Camburn, Georgina Castle, Edward Chitticks, Louise Dalton, Ben Darcy, Rebecca Giacopazzi, Katy Hards, Jennifer Hepburn, Robert Knight, Rebecca McKinnis, Samira Mighty and Amy West, who will be joining Adam Clayton-Smith, Stephen John Davis, Craig Anthony Kelly, George Miller and Robbie Scotcher.
Judy Craymer’s inventive re-working of the hits of Swedish supergroup Abba, Mamma Mia! has to date been seen by 60 million people in 50 different productions in 16 different languages, grossing more than $2billion at the box office. In 2011 it became the first Western musical to be staged in Mandarin in China.
The show, which originally opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999, is currently in the midst of its first UK tour. Mamma Mia! moved into the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004, before reopening in its new London venue, the Novello Theatre in 2012.
The London production of Mamma Mia! has been seen by more than 10% of the entire UK population. The show has celebrated over 7,000 performances in London and has broken box office records in all three of its London homes. A new booking period taking the show up until 4 March 2017 opens on Friday (22 April).
With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast.
The production is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.
