A host of West End stars will take part in a special fundraiser in London in May inspired by inspirational young anti-bullying campaigner Charlie Kristensen.
With proceeds from ticket sales going to The Diana Award which runs the UK’s leading anti-bullying school programme, #CheerUp Charlie – The Show on 3 May 2020 at The Actors’ Church in Covent Garden will feature a star-studded line-up of West End favourites.
Produced by Mark Robert Petty and hosted by Hilary O’Neil, the evening will feature performances from artists including: The Barricade Boys, Tsemaye Bob-Egbe, Daniel Boys, Matthew Croke, Lyndsey Gardiner, Jacqueline Hughes, Adrian Hansel, Tom Hier, Sophie Isaacs, Melissa Jacques, Idriss Kargbo, Sooz Kemper, Carolyn Maitland, Nathaniel Morrison, Nadim Naaman, Sam Retford, Charlie Stemp, Harriet Thorpe, Jacinta Whyte and T’Shan Williams. The show will also feature cast members from current hit productions, Come From Away and Wicked, and Michael D. Xavier’s MX Masterclass.
Further artists will be added over the next few weeks and all artists will appear subject to availability. Musical direction for the event will be by Henry Brennan with choreography by Anthony Whiteman.
Charlie Kristensen hit the headlines last year when his singing teacher Jacqueline (Jax) Hughes appealed to the musical theatre community to send messages of support to the youngster after discovering he was being bullied in school. The industry responded with hundreds of messages of love, support and encouragement for the nine-year-old boy affectionately known as ‘Little Charlie’.
Commenting on his story, Charlie says: “I may be just one boy with a small voice, but I have a huge tribe behind me and I will make a difference.”
