The VAULT Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary early next year with a programme of over 600 shows. Featuring a mix of new theatre, comedy, immersive experiences, cabaret, live performances and late-night event, the festival will run from 25 January until 20 March 2022.
Postponed from 2021 due to the pandemic, the popular live event at the distinctive subterranean arts venue in London’s Waterloo will also present the Lost Shows – a platform for 97 artists who were unable to present their work when the 2020 festival was cut short by Covid.
Announcing the 10th anniversary programme, VAULT Festival co-founder Andy George said: “Each and every artist in our programme this year has shown the most amazing resilience to still be making and creating after the past two years.
“Grass roots, independent artists are the present and the future of our culture and society. They need the support of audiences to keep going and continue to effect long lasting, positive change. We cannot wait to share their unique stories, lives, and experiences with the world.”
The 2022 VAULT Festival will showcase a range work inspired by ‘hot button’ topics including climate change and will continue to focus on LGBTQIA+ stories and provide a platform for work-in-progress material. The 10th Festival will also feature the launch of new partnerships with leading arts organisations and artists from across the UK including Northern Stage (the largest producing theatre company in the North East) and disability-led arts organisation Shape Arts.
