Siobhan O’Driscoll and Lauren Drew join the cast of the Les Misérables UK and Ireland tour
The company of the acclaimed UK and Ireland tour of Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Misérables will welcome two new cast members.
Siobhan O’Driscoll (American Idiot, UK and New Zealand tour) has stepped into the role of Eponine as the show reaches Norwich while Lauren Drew (Legally Blonde, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Six UK tour) will take over as Fantine from 2 November when the show opens in Sunderland.
They will join Dean Chisnall as Valjean, Nic Greenshields as Javert, Ian Hughes as Thénardier, Will Callan as Marius, Helen Walsh as Madame Thénardier, Samuel Wyn-Morris as Enjolras and Paige Blankson as Cosette. Rachelle Ann Go will continue as Fantine until 29 October.
The cast is completed by George Arvidson, Aidan Banyard, Will Barratt, Adam Boardman, Rebecca Bolton, Emily Olive Boyd, Olivia Brereton, Harry Chandler, Rebecca Ferrin, Aimee Good, Steven Hall, Jenna Innes, Tessa Kadler, Damian Kneale, Caleb Lagayan, Abel Law, Joseph McDonnell, Zabrina Norry, Emily Owens, Jordan Simon Pollard, Jamie Pritchard, Dean Read, Rebecca Ridout and Rick Zwart.
Conceived by Cameron Mackintosh in 2009 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the much-loved musical, the newest production of Les Misérables has captured the imagination of audiences across the world with the record-breaking tour of North America due to relaunch in October and a new tour of The Netherlands planned for early 2023. Further productions are to be announced.
The production will play Norwich Theatre Royal up to 24 September before visiting the Marlowe Theatre Canterbury, Sunderland Empire and Leeds Grand. The production will then play a Christmas season at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff from 13 December 2022 until 14 January 2023.
Based on the epic novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables features music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel with additional material by James Fenton and adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird. Orchestrations are by Stephen Metcalfe, Christopher Jahnke and Stephen Brooker with original orchestrations by John Cameron.
Directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, the hugely successful touring production features design by Matt Kinley inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowland, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, musical staging by Michael Ashcroft and Geoffrey Garratt, projections by Fifty-Nine Productions and music supervision by Stephen Brooker and Graham Hurman.
Les Misérables has been seen by over 120 million people worldwide in 52 countries and in 22 languages.
