Two of West End Wicked’s Elphabas, Alice Fearn and Emma Hatton will share the stage later this month for a special gala fundraiser at the Park Theatre in North London celebrating the work of the hit show’s composer Stephen Schwartz.
Presented by Aria Entertainment and Hope Mill Theatre in association with Park Theatre, The Spark of Creation on 19 January 2020 will be staged during the London transfer run of Hope Mill’s critically acclaimed production of Schwartz’s RAGS The Musical.
Fearn and Hatton will take to the stage alongside artists from previous and current Aria Entertainment and Hope Mill Theatre productions including one of the stars of RAGS The Musical, Carolyn Maitland.
They will be joined by Natalie Green, Simbi Akande and Soophia Foroughi, who are due to follow appearances in Hair and Putting It Together, by appearing in Schwartz’s new West End musical The Prince of Egypt.
One of the stars of Hope Mill’s first-ever production, Parade, Laura Harrison will also appear along with Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) who starred in the venue’s hit show Yank!, Andrew Patrick-Waller who appeared in Hair and Genevieve Nicole whose credits include the Hope Mill Theatre and Aria Entertainment’s production of Pippin.
The concert, which will help raise the funding needed to stage RAGS The Musical, includes a panel discussion and audience Q&A with the man whose hits include Wicked, Godspell and Pippin.
Presented by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment and Hope Mill Theatre in association with Knockhardy Productions and Finsbury Park’s Park Theatre, RAGS The Musical is playing Park200 from 9 January until 8 February 2020.
The new version of the musical which received its UK premiere at the Manchester venue in 2019 is directed by Hope Mill regular Bronagh Lagan (Little Women, Putting It Together).
The production features musical direction by Joe Bunker, orchestrations by Nick Barstow, choreography by Philip Michael Thomas, set and costume design by Gregor Donnelly, lighting design by Derek Anderson, sound design by James Nicholson and casting by Jane Deitch.
With a book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof), lyrics by Schwartz (Wicked) and music by Charles Strouse (Annie), the story of a Russian immigrant who travels to America with her son in search of a better life debuted on Broadway in 1986.
