Playwright and actor Arinzé Kene will bring his critically acclaimed Misty to London’s Trafalgar Studios for a six-week run in September.
Following on from its sold-out run at the Bush Theatre in West London, the powerful piece which blends theatre, music and poetry will move into the Westminster venue from 8 September until 20 October with a press night on 13 September.
Presented by Trafalgar Theatre Productions and Jonathan Church Productions, the Bush Theatre production is directed by Bush Theatre associate director Omar Elerian.
Featuring an original musical score performed live by musical directors Shiloh Coke and Adrian McLeod, the contemporary piece proved a hit with audiences and critics when it debuted at the Bush Theatre in March this year.
The creative team also includes designer Rajha Shakiry, sound designer Elena Peña, lighting designer Jackie Shemesh, video designer Daniel Denton with and dramaturg Kirsty Housely.
Essentially a one-man show performed by Kene, Misty features just one other character, ‘Little Girl’, a role shared by Mya Napoleon and Rene Powell.
An award-winning actor and playwright, Kene’s acting credits include playing Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami at the Donmar Warehouse and appearing in the hit Girl from The North Country in the West End. On screen Kene will soon be seen in a leading role in the feature film Been So Long and in the BBC thriller Informer, starring opposite Paddy Considine.
