A mix of new and returning cast members will take to the road in the international touring production of Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical.
The West End’s original Sloane and Falco, Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler, will return alongside the UK tour’s Glenn Adamson who will reprise his performance as Strat with the tour’s Valkyrie, Kelly Gnauck, stepping into the role of Raven.
They will be joined by Jayme-Lee Zanoncelli as Zahara, James Chisolm as Jagwire, Matteo Johnson as Tink, Katie Tonkinson as Valkyrie and Danny Whelan as Ledoux.
The cast will also include Jay Anderson as O’Dessasuite, Alex Bowen as Goddesilla, Georgia Bradshaw as Kwaidan, Amara Campbell as Vilmos, Eirik Dahlen as Esquivel, Alexandra Doar as Scherzzo, Luke Hall as Markevitch, James Lowrie as Denym, Rory Maguire as Hollander, Catherine Saunders as Mordema, Luke Street as Hoffmann/Alternate Strat, Craig Watson as Astroganger and Beth Woodcock as Spinotti.
Launching in December at Swansea Arena (6-15 December) before playing a Christmas season in Düsseldorf, Germany (20 December 2022-4 January 2023), the production will embark on an arena tour of New Zealand and Australia from 22 January until 8 February 2023.
The production will then return to the UK to play the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End (17 February-1 April 2023) before heading for the Wiener Stadthalle F in Vienna, Austria and MAAG Halle in Zurich, Switzerland. Further dates and European venues will be announced at a later date.
Four decades in the making, the theatrical incarnation of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s iconic rock album made its long-awaited debut in 2017 with a preview run at the Manchester Opera House before its official world premiere opening night at the London Coliseum in June 2017. The musical stormed into the Dominion Theatre at the beginning of April 2018 where it remained until January 2019.
A hit with both audiences and critics, the show collected the Evening Standard Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical in 2017. The show has also played to packed houses in Toronto, Canada, Oberhausen, Germany and in New York.
Directed by innovative theatre and opera director Jay Scheib, Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical boasts a book, music and lyrics by Steinman, with musical supervision and additional arrangements by Michael Reed, set and costume design by Jon Bausor, original costume designs by Meentje Nielsen, video design by Finn Ross, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestration by Steve Sidwell and casting by Anne Vosser.
One of the biggest-selling albums of all time, the turbo-charged 1977 collaboration between songwriter Steinman and vocalist Meat Loaf forms the basis for the hit stage show which features over 20 of Steinman’s distinctive songs.
Although the ground-breaking album was the inspiration for the new show, it actually marks a return to the work’s original genre – musical theatre. Conceived as a futuristic Peter Pan-style piece entitled Neverland, Steinman’s creation actually started life as a musical written for a workshop in 1974.
Dedicated to the memory of Jim Steinman who passed away on 19 April 2021 and Meat Loaf who passed away on 20 January 2022, Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical is produced by Michael Cohl, Tony Smith and David Sonenberg with executive producer Julian Stoneman.
