The Olivier Awards has announced details of the first episode in its new four-part series, Road to the Oliviers which launches today (Friday 16 March).
Co-produced by the Olivier Awards and Facebook, the shows will be broadcast live on the Oliviers’ Facebook page at 1pm on 16, 23, 29 March and 6 April, the series will follow the build-up to the prestigious ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 8 April.
Featuring a mix of intimate performances, interviews with the nominees and backstage footage from nominated shows, the first episode will be hosted by Jamie Lambert, a Britain’s Got Talent winner with Collabro.
The studio guest list will include 2018 Olivier nominees: Derren Brown (nominated for Best Entertainment and Family show for Underground) and John McCrea and Josie Walker from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (nominated for Best Actor and Actress in a Musical).
Lambert will also be joined by the editor of The Stage, Alistair Smith; and Willy Mukendi, an Olivier Award Be Inspired champion.
The episode will feature exclusive backstage footage of the most nominated new play, The Ferryman, and Best Actress for Long Day’s Journey Into Night nominee, Lesley Manville.
Details of the other four episodes will be released closer to each broadcast. The Olivier Awards will be hosted by Catherine Tate and broadcast to the UK and worldwide.
