The producers of Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical have confirmed the award-winning show will end its Dominion Theatre run on 5 January 2019.
Following on from smash hit runs in 2017 at the Manchester Opera House and the London Coliseum, the musical version of Jim Steinman’s rock classic record stormed into the Dominion Theatre at the beginning of April this year.
The show’s current cast at the Dominion is led by Jordan Luke Gage as Strat and Christina Bennington as Raven with Rob Fowler as Falco and Sharon Sexton as Sloane. They are joined by Alex Thomas-Smith as Tink, Danielle Steers as Zahara, Wayne Robinson as Jagwire, Giovanni Spanó as Ledoux and Ryan Anderson as Blake.
At certain performances, the role of Strat is played by Simon Gordon. The cast also includes: Kyle Anthony, Emily Benjamin, Christopher Cameron, Georgia Carling, Natalie Chua, Jonathan Cordin, Rob Copeland, Hannah Ducharme, Isaac Edwards, Collette Guitart, Eric Hallengren, Vicki Manser, Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky, Aston Newman Hannington, Eve Norris, Joseph Peacock, Kyle Roberts, Craig Ryder, Dawnita Smith, Courtney Stapleton, Julie Stark, Charlotte Anne Steen, Sam Toland and Barney Wilkinson.
The show is due to play special gala performance of the smash hit musical on Thursday 6 December as part of the show’s on-going partnership with the armed forces charity, the Invictus Games Foundation.
Directed by innovative theatre and opera director Jay Scheib, Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical has a book by Steinman and Stuart Beattie, music and lyrics by Steinman, with choreography by Emma Portner, musical arrangements and supervision by Michael Reed, set design by Jon Bausor, costume design by Meentje Nielsen, video design by Finn Ross, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestration by Steve Sidwell, casting by David Grindrod Associates and musical direction by Robert Emery.
The hit show has just begun a major North American tour in Toronto, Canada and the German language premiere will open in Oberhausuen, Germany on 2 November.
One of the biggest-selling albums of all time, the turbo-charged 1977 collaboration between songwriter Steinman and vocalist Meat Loaf, forms the basis for the stage show which features over 20 of Steinman’s distinctive songs.
Although the ground-breaking album was the inspiration for the new show, the spectacular show marks a return to the work’s original genre – musical theatre. Conceived as a futuristic Peter Pan-style piece entitled Neverland, Steinman’s creation actually started life as a musical written for a workshop in 1974.
