West End star Emma Hatton has launched new podcast Dear Music, a series celebrating the importance of music in our lives.
Currently covering for Ruthie Henshall on Magic at the Musicals for Magic FM, the actress who played Elphaba in Wicked and featured in the title role for the 2017 tour of Evita, will release a new music-flavoured podcast every fortnight.
Launching Dear Music on all platforms, Hatton said: “Dear Music has been years in the making. To me, music is the most powerful form of expression we have – it touches us all from the moment we arrive on this earth to our departing day. It moves and inspires, reflecting our moods and emotions in the most extraordinary way. Nothing else comes close.”
Describing her plans for the content of the podcasts, Hatton, an ambassador for music charity Nordoff Robbins, added: “It’s inevitable that musicians will always wax lyrical about their passion. I wanted to open up the subject to explore how music affects us all, from sportsmen and women to educators, children to adults…
“For many, participating in musical activities gives them a sense of belonging and community, offering them a world outside of their own immediate circumstances in which they can both lose and find themselves. And music therapy should never be underestimated in terms of the improvements it can bring to a multitude of lives.”
The series will feature a mix of music and interviews and will also highlight the work of lesser-known charities using music to brighten lives.
Now available to download, the first episode features US singer/songwriter Mario Jose – a fellow vocalist on the 2018 tour of vintage music collective Postmodern Jukebox.
