Selladoor Worldwide has released full cast details for the UK tour of Footloose the Musical currently in rehearsals.

As previously announced the production will feature reality TV favourite Jake Quickenden who will follow his recent appearance in the acclaimed 50th anniversary production of Hair The Musical by stepping into the role of Willard, and stage and TV personality Darren Day (Chicago) as Reverend Moore.

The previously announced cast also includes Anna Westlake (Lulu), Alex Fobbester (Bickle), Ben Barrow (Wes), Ben Mabberley (Jeter), Geri Allen (Ethal), Holly Ashton (Vi), Jess Barker (Wendi-Jo), Joshua Hawkins (Ren), Samantha Richards (Urleen), Tom Mussell (Chuck) and Daniel Miles and Lucy Ireland as off-stage swings. They will be joined by Lucy Munden as Ariel and Oonagh Cox as Rusty.

Launching at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on 14 February 2022, the extensive UK tour will follow a three-week season in Zurich. (In Zurich, the role of Willard will be played by Luke Friend with Philip Bulcock as Reverend Moore.)

Directed by Racky Plews, the tour will follow its Plymouth run, by visiting Brighton, Manchester, Peterborough, Stoke, York, Cheltenham, Blackpool, Birmingham, Doncaster, Southampton, Aylesbury, Malvern, Llandudno, Cardiff, Sunderland, Woking, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Barnstaple, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Wimbledon. Quickenden will not be appearing in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Wimbledon – star casting for the role of Willard will be announced at a later date.

Based on the hit 1984 film which featured Kevin Bacon in the central role of the boy who brings dance to a small American town, the show first opened on Broadway in 1998.

Footloose the Musical has music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and is adapted for the stage by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. It is based on Pitchford’s original screenplay.

Presented by Selladoor Productions and Runaway Entertainment, choreography for the tour is by Matthew Cole, with musical supervision by Mark Crossland, design by Sara Perks, lighting design from Chris Davey, sound design by Chris Whybrow and casting is by Debbie O’Brien.
