Multi-award-winning actress, writer and director Kathy Burke will take on directing duties when Amy Booth-Steel takes her show and ukulele to this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Presented by Paul Taylor-Mills, #HonestAmy A Ukulele Comedy will receive its world premiere at the Pleasance Dome in Edinburgh from 31 July to 26 August 2019.
Written and performed by Booth-Steel, the off-beat one-woman show explores modern-day issues through the medium of the ukulele.
Best known for her small screen appearances as Mel in the BBC Three sitcom Wannabe and for playing Nicola Sturgeon in The Windsors, Booth-Steel recently appeared in the West End as Mrs Fleming in hit show Heathers The Musical.
Still fondly remembered for her performance as teenager Perry alongside Harry Enfield’s Kevin, Burke’s extensive accolades include a Cannes Festival Best Actress Award for Nil By Mouth and a British Comedy Award for sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme.
A major TV star with roles in hit shows including Absolutely Fabulous, Burke’s stage credits include West End productions of Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan and Betty by Karen McLachlan.
