More stars announced for Mark Curry’s Conversations

Veteran stage and screen star Millicent Martin is among the latest guests announced for the series of in-conversations with presenter and broadcaster Mark Curry recently launched in aid of Acting For Others.

The 85-year-old actress and singer who was nominated for a Tony for her performances in Side By Side By Sondheim (1977) and King of Hearts (1978) will discuss her 72-year career in showbusiness.

With dates to be confirmed the latest additions to the line-up of interviewees include: former British number one tennis player Annabel Croft; the director of The Woman in Black, Robin Herford; the owner and artistic director of The Mill at Sonning, Sally Hughes; Allo, Allo favourite Vicki Michelle; and actress and 1980s pop star Toyah Willcox.

Available via the Acting For Others YouTube channel, each conversation takes place via Zoom with Curry questioning his guest about their lives and careers and discussing how they are coping with lockdown.

Announcing the interview series, Curry said: “We are all in a very uncertain and worrying time, many colleagues in the performing arts are struggling with no idea when they will be able to work again.

“We have some amazing guests lined up, and I really hope our viewers enjoy these conversations, and that those who are able to, consider donating to Acting for Others, a wonderful charity that offers both emotional and financial help to theatre workers in need – and which, with the current crisis, need our support more than ever.”

Interviews with actress Bonnie Langford, dancer Debbie McGee, singer Cheryl Baker, presenters Peter Duncan and Janet Ellis and actress Finty Williams are now available. Coronation Street’s Beverley Callard features in the next episode on 18 June; followed by the associate director on Wicked, Petra Siniawski (25 June); another Corrie favourite Rula Lenska (2 July); presenter Yvette Fielding (9 July); and stage and screen stars Susan Penhaligon (16 July) and Jenny Seagrove (23 July).

The Conversations With…Mark Curry are available free of charge. Viewers are asked to make donations in support of the charity HERE.

Acting For Others is an umbrella organisation that provides financial and emotional support to all theatre workers in need through 14 UK theatrical charities.
