Gilbert and Sullivan’s much-loved The Pirates of Penzance will make its debut re-imagined as a major dance spectacular in the UK in 2019, 140 years after the comic opera was first performed.
Presented by Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Bateman, New Level Productions and Julian Stoneman, the danced-through musical will be directed and choreographed by Daryl Gray with new arrangements and orchestrations by Grammy Award-winner Steve Sidwell.
A labour of love for Broadway actor, dancer and choreographer Gray, who previously worked on Pirates of Penzance – The Ballet which debuted in Queensland Australia in 1991, Pirates! will be a lavish new production designed by Morgan Large.
The creative team will include lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Terry Jardine and Luke Swaffield for Autograph Sound, with orchestrations and arrangements by Steve Sidwell and casting by Gabrielle Dawes, CDG.
Produced in the UK by Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, the team behind the upcoming Magic Mike Live in London, and New Level Productions, with Julian Stoneman as executive producer, for and on behalf of Pirates! Musical UK Limited.
