A new production of Adam Gwon’s Ordinary Days will be the first in-house production to grace the stage of the new Town and Gown Theatre in Cambridge in the autumn.
Directed by the theatre’s manager Karl Steele, the production which is a re-working of Steele’s 2017 production at his previous theatre The Old Joint Stock in Birmingham will play the new 100-seat theatre space from 13-17 October 2021.
Returning cast members James Edge, Lisa Macgregor and Duncan Burt will be joined by recent graduate Dora Gee who will make her professional debut in the production which will feature musical direction by Nick Allen.
Award-winning writer Gwon’s New York set contemporary musical has won critical and audience acclaim with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
Originally due to launch in April last year, the fringe theatre space within the 1866 building which once housed Cambridge’s Arts Cinema began hosting performances with socially distancing measures in place last October.
Aimed at showcasing the best of UK touring fringe theatre, cabaret, new writing and musical theatre, the 110-audience capacity space on the top floor of the building was designed to allow for performances in the round and in thrust, traverse and end-on formations.
A long-term champion of fringe theatre and small-scale productions, the venue is Steele’s latest venture following on from his successful Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham.
