Pop-up musical performances launched for London rail commuters

Official London Theatre and Network Rail have joined forces to bring a touch of West End magic to commuters heading back to work this month.

Coinciding with the launch of theatre promotion Show Time, Show Time in Stations launched with a special performance at Waterloo Station by the cast of the newly opened West End production of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage.

More special pop-up performances and musical theatre karaoke, with a chance to win theatre tickets, are scheduled for Victoria Station from 16-20 February and Charing Cross Station from 23-27 February.

Aimed at tempting audiences back into theatres after the pandemic, the Show Time initiative offers £10, £20, £30, £40, and £50 tickets to over 40 West End shows up to 31 March.

Theatre-loving visitors to central London can also visit Performance by Rankin – the free exhibition by the renowned photographer and filmmaker Rankin at the FujiFilm House of Photography in the heart of the Covent Garden until 12 March.

Celebrating the talent and resilience of London’s theatre industry, the series captures images of over 150 subjects drawn from productions and theatre venues across central London. From star actors, dancers, puppeteers and writers through to producers, costume and set designers and front of house, the photographer’s striking portraits cover all aspects of London’s theatreland.
