Double Evening Standard Award-winner Rosalie Craig (Hex, The Light Princess) will return to the London stage this summer to star in Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright’s Broadway hit Good Night, Oscar.
The actress who won acclaim for her performance in the 2018 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company will play June Lavant alongside Tony and Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes as Hollywood Golden Age concert pianist, actor and raconteur Oscar Levant, and Ben Rappaport as talk show host Jack Paar in the production which will play a strictly limited seven-week season at the Barbican Theatre from 31 July to 21 September.
Looking forward to returning to London, Craig said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to the West End to join the company of Good Night, Oscar as June Levant. It’s a deeply compelling, razor-sharp piece of theatre, and stepping into this world alongside such a remarkable cast is a real privilege.”
Producer Howard Panter added: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Rosalie Craig join the cast of Good Night, Oscar. Her return to the West End is long overdue, and we’re excited for audiences to see her in this exceptional production. It will be an unforgettable experience.”
The cast at the Barbican will also include Daniel Adeosun as Alvin Finney, David Burnett as George Gershwin, Richard Katz as Bob Sarnoff, Eric Sirakian as Max Weinbaum and Max Roll as understudy for Oscar Levant and Bob Sarnoff. The additional understudies are Tashinga Bepete (Alvin Finney), Ben Butler (Max Weinbaum), Charlotte Hunter (June Levant) and Ryan Speakman (Jack Paar and George Gershwin).
Centred on a fictionalised 1950s episode of the late-night US talk show The Tonight Show featuring Levant with host Jack Paar, the play which opened on Broadway in 2023 is directed by Lisa Peterson.
