The founders of online initiative Showcase 2020 have launched Help Hub, a new service which offers a link between the newly graduated and industry professionals at a time when ‘learning on the job’ is not possible.
Announcing the latest branch of Showcase 2020, co-founder Isaac Stanmore said: “We have been blown away by the generosity of the industry and all those willing to contribute. This information is practical, implementable and of interest to not just those graduating now but for throughout your career.”
Co-founder Olivia Beardsley added: “You can watch these videos and will come away with tangible things you can do differently that will help you in your career immediately.”
Covering a wide-range of subjects from audition tips to call sheets, Help Hub includes interviews with actors Alice Fearn (Wicked, Come From Away), Pearl Mackie (Doctor Who), Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones, Pride) and casting director Kharmel Cochrane (The Lighthouse, The End Of The F***ing World).
Offering practical advice for those hoping to enter the industry, the Help Hub also includes an exclusive web series by actor and author Paul Clayton (Peep Show, Wolf Hall, The Crown) offering an insight into the life and work of an actor.
Discussing the inspiration for the latest addition to Showcase 2020, Beardsley and Stanmore said: “As two working actors we learnt just as much on our first few jobs across stage and screen as we did at drama school.
“We wanted to take the place of a graduate and ask industry leaders questions to help bridge the gap between graduating and working, at a time when ‘learning on the job isn’t possible. Like all of Showcase 2020 it is free to access and free to use, and will be useful not just to those who are graduating this year but throughout their careers.”
Created by actors Beardsley and Stanmore, Showcase 2020 is a new platform for drama school graduates. Showcase 2020 now hosts over 300 graduates from over 20 drama schools.
