Leading choreographer Anthony Van Laast will present a star-packed series of concerts in September, aimed at raising funds for those in the industry hardest hit by the ongoing Covid-crisis.
The four 45-minute charity concerts – West End Unplugged (Live from L-Acoustics Creations) – will feature some of musical theatre’s biggest stars alongside leading theatre musicians performing an eclectic mix of show tunes and personal favourite songs.
The line-up includes: Mazz Murray (Mamma Mia!), Alice Fearn (Come From Away), Sandra Marvin (Hairspray), Hugh Maynard (Miss Saigon), Aisha Jawando (TINA – The Tina Turner Musical), Richard Fleeshman (Company) and Celinde Schoenmaker (The Phantom of the Opera), Tim Howar (The Phantom of the Opera), Siobhan McCarthy (Hairspray), Joe Stilgoe (Guys and Dolls), Hanna Waddingham (The Wizard of Oz), David Bedella (In The Heights), Cavin Cornwall (Jesus Christ Superstar) and Katie Brayben (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical).
With musical direction by Ben Goddard, the concerts which will be streamed on Facebook every Wednesday at 7.30pm (GMT) from 9 to 30 September will feature a mixture of music and relaxed chat.
Announcing the series, the show’s producer, theatre sound designer Bobby Aitken, said: “All funds raised on the day will benefit three amazing charities: Backup – The Technical Theatre Charity, Help Musicians UK and the Theatre Artists Fund. We feel that between them, these three charities best represent everyone in our theatre family.”
All performers, technicians and equipment suppliers involved are giving their time and services free-of-charge. The concerts will be free to view HERE.
