Ruthie Henshall is among the high-powered West End cast assembled for the 30th anniversary concert performances of Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s Children of Eden this autumn.
A member of the musical’s original London cast, Henshall (Chicago, Cats) will appear alongside Alice Fearn (Come From Away, Wicked), Carl Spencer (Hamilton, Motown: The Musical), Adam Pearce (The Prince of Egypt, Love Never Dies), Rob Houchen (South Pacific, Les Misérables), Shan Ako (Les Misérables, Whitney Queen of the Night), Leslie Garcia Bowman (Hamilton, South Pacific), David O’Reilly (Book of Mormon, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Simbi Akande (The Light in the Piazza, The Prince of Egypt) and Jessica Lee (Les Misérables, The Prince of Egypt). All casting is subject to change.
Co-directed by Caird and Houchen, the two performances on 3 October at London’s Cadogan Hall will debut a newly revised score by Schwartz.
Presented by Forty Four Productions, the musical direction for the concerts will be by Tom Deering who will lead a West End orchestra and the show will feature a choir from the Guildford School of Acting.
Developed as a workshop production by the Royal Shakespeare Company, the biblically-inspired Children of Eden debuted in the West End in 1991 in a production directed by Caird. The two-act musical features music and lyrics by Schwartz and a book by Caird.
