Edinburgh Festival Fringe hits Bloody Elle and Boy Out the City will play a limited West End season at the Lyric Theatre later this month.
Presented by Paul Taylor-Mills, the two critically acclaimed shows will play alternate performances at the Shaftesbury Avenue venue from 27-30 September 2023.
Written and performed by Lauryn Redding (The Secret Diary Of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ The Musical, Queens Theatre Hornchurch, Educating Rita, UK tour) with an innovative original score, the one-woman, semi-autobiographical gig musical Bloody Elle received its world premiere at the Royal Exchange in Manchester in 2021.
The production, directed by Bryony Shanahan, the joint artistic director of the Royal Exchange, was nominated for the Best Regional Production award at the WhatsOnStage Awards 2022 and has played a previous London season at Soho Theatre. Bloody Elle is produced with Traverse Theatre, Cloudrise Productions and Royal Exchange Theatre.
Taking inspiration from his own private journals, actor Declan Bennett’s (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Once, West End) Boy Out the City premiered in 2021 at Westival Music and Arts Festival before receiving a London premiere at the Turbine Theatre.
Developed and directed by the artistic director of The Ruined Theatre, Nancy Sullivan, Boy Out the City is produced by Lauren Reed Productions.
