Musical theatre favourites will take centre stage in a new intimate concert series at London music venue Piano, Smithfield in May.
Hosted by new music and film label, Westway, The Westway Sessions will launch on 9 May 2022 with a performance reuniting former Les Misérables’ co-stars Rob Houchen (City of Angels) and Emma Kingston (Heathers) for a concert which will include songs from West Side Story and Evita.
Olivier Award nominee Rachel John (Hamilton) will follow on 10 May with a show featuring a personal selection of songs from a range of genres including musical theatre and gospel.
Currently starring in Come From Away, Alice Fearn will take her audience on a musical journey through a 15-year career that has included leading roles in the West End and beyond. The actress who is best known for starring as Elphaba in Wicked will perform songs from the writers who have inspired her on 15 May.
West End and Broadway star John Owen-Jones will be the evening’s star on 16 May. One of the West End’s most accomplished leading men, Owen-Jones is remains the youngest in history to play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables and is also known for playing the title role in the West End’s record-breaking The Phantom of the Opera longer than any other actor. He has performed concerts in many of the world’s most prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and has released six solo albums.
Former Phantom leading lady, Scottish singer and actress Kelly Mathieson will perform a mix of musical theatre favourites and Scottish folk songs on 22 May. While fellow Scot Jenna Lee-James (We Will Rock You) will perform songs from her debut album ‘On The Edge’ on 24 May.
Olivier Award-winner Cassidy Janson will be the star of the show on 29 May. The Beautiful The Musical and & Juliet actress will perform unplugged versions of her favourite tunes from chart-toppers including Carole King and Lady Gaga.
The final show on 30 May will star Lee Mead. The actor who first shot to fame as the winner of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s television talent search for his new Joseph in 2007, and has since starred in a range of hit shows including Wicked, Legally Blonde and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will perform a selection of his favourite songs.
