A group of the West End’s rising stars will play fairytale princesses with a difference in a new digital production of Off-Broadway hit Disenchanted.
Jodie Steele (Six The Musical, Heathers: The Musical) will play Snow White with Sophie Isaacs (Six The Musical, Heathers: The Musical) featuring as Cinderella, Grace Mouat (& Juliet, Six The Musical) as Pocahontas and Shanay Holmes (Rent, The Bodyguard) as The Princess Who Kissed The Frog.
The cast will also include Courtney Bowman (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Six The Musical), Natalie Chua (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Bat Out of Hell), Allie Daniel (Rent, The Secret Society of Leading Ladies), Aisha Jawando (Tina The Musical, Motown the Musical) and Jenny O’Leary (Heathers, We Will Rock You).
Streaming on stream.theatre from 9 until 11 April, the production will be directed by Tom Jackson Greaves and will be filmed entirely on green screen to help create the fairy tale world inhabited by the princesses.
Announcing the production, Jackson Greaves said: “Disenchanted is exactly what our audiences need right now as we fill our hearts with hope for the future – laughter, magic and just a couple of woodland creatures… and this cast?! Just you wait…”
The first 200 tickets purchased to the premiere performance on 9 April will also receive access to the VIP after party featuring the cast of princesses on Zoom.
Produced by Chris Steward and Shanay Holmes for West End Musical Productions, the creative team includes musical director George Dyer, hair designer Charlotte Wilkinson and make-up designer Abbi Rose. Filming is by The Umbrella Rooms.
With a book, music and lyrics by former history teacher Dennis T.Giacino, the musical which re-imagines the traditional fairy tale princesses as feisty modern women debuted Off-Broadway in 2014. The show was nominated for a number of awards including the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Off-Broadway Musical.
