Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen joined the cast of the Take That-inspired The Band on the roof of the Theatre Royal Haymarket to officially announce the musical’s Christmas season at the West End venue.
Due to arrive at the Leeds Grand Theatre today (20 March), the record-breaking musical which features the music of Britain’s biggest boyband will take time out from its touring schedule to play the London season from 1 December until 12 January 2019. Following the festive 50 performances, the show will be back on the road beginning with a run at The Lowry, Salford from 16 January 2019.
Written by Tim Firth, Gary Barlow’s writing partner in his critically-acclaimed foray into musical theatre, The Girls, The Band traces the lives of five 16-year-old girls united in their love for a 1990s boyband who are reunited 25 years later as 40-something women trying to fulfil their dream of meeting their heroes.
Confirming the details of the West End dates, producer David Pugh said: “Our co-producers, Gary, Howard, Mark and Robbie, are totally chuffed that London’s glittering West End will see this award-winning production at the historic Theatre Royal Haymarket this 
Christmas season.”
The fastest-selling UK tour of all time with ticket sales of £20 million, the tour launched last year at the Manchester Opera House, the venue where Take That first performed in 1992.
Featuring 14 Take That hits and the winners of the TV talent search Let It Shine, boyband Five To Five (AJ Bentley, Curtis T Johns, Nick Carsberg, Sario Solomon and Yazdan Qafouri), The Band stars Rachel Lumberg, Alison Fitzjohn, Emily Joyce, Jayne McKenna, Faye Christall, Katy Clayton, Rachelle Diedericks, Sarah Kate Howarth, Lauren Jacobs, Martin Miller and Andy Williams.
Directed by Kim Gavin and Jack Ryder, the show reunites Barlow and Firth with producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers the team behind The Girls, and is co-produced by Barlow and bandmates Donald, Owen and Robbie Williams.
Co-director Gavin choreographs the production which has been designed by Jon Bausor with lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, video design by Luke Halls and sound design by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster.
