Cast for workshopped new musical Daisy revealed

Jason Manford and Rachel Tucker will feature in the cast of a workshop production of new Irish musical Daisy next month.

Manford (Curtains, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and Tucker (Come From Away, The Last Ship) will appear with the show’s creator, singer/songwriter and actress Caroline Kay (taking on the title role), with Jessica Cervi (The Commitments), Christopher Chung (Heathers), Hilda Fay (Float Like a Butterfly), Johan Munir (Broken Wings) and David O’Reilly (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) completing the cast.

Set on Kay’s home-ground in Dublin, the London workshop will be directed by Séimí Campbell (Songs for a New World, Come From Away) with musical direction and orchestrations by Tony Award-winner Sarah Travis (Curtains, Sweeney Todd).

Commenting on her project, Kay said: “After having to switch to virtual creative meetings and Zoom readings during the pandemic, I’m so excited to get this group of talented creatives into a Covid-safe space to develop the piece. Though this is a private workshop, for safety reasons, it is only the beginning of the journey for this show, which we hope to bring to audiences very soon.”

A recording of the duet ‘A Million Things’ from Daisy performed by Kay and Fra Fee (The Ferryman, Les Miserables) features on Kay’s second EP ‘tricks’ which was released in 2019.

During lockdown last year Kay worked remotely with West End star David Hunter (Waitress) on mini musical The Space Between which is available to view on YouTube or as a music download.
